The only thing worth learning

An average human spends more than 15 years in schooling before dispersing to gain higher knowledge. This further takes a minimum of three years and maximum? Well, researchers and medical practitioners study every day till they retire.

Most of us never move beyond excels, PPTs or doing something that we might have done with basic training right after school. Then why waste so much time? Has that ever helped us in any way?

The classic argument still holds that no one in this world has ever used a logarithmic scale to understand why brinjals cost ₹20/kg.

There are endless analogies to it. In the sea of such examples, we have forgotten that education is there for a purpose. Everything we studied has had meaning. Although it is highly possible that we are not using it the way we should have.

I wasn’t particularly good at physics. Although my school friends might beg to differ on this, I still believe that scoring marks and being good at that subject are totally unrelated.

In 11th grade, we were taught Thermodynamics – the study of heat. If you want to learn more about this, you’re free to use the Byjus and the Unacadmies of the world. I’m not going technical here.

Primarily there are three laws of thermodynamics.

The first law speaks yadda yadda yadda. The third one says something which I can’t bother less. But the second one tells you that you are fucked – I kid you not.

You can learn about the definition on the internet. But let’s understand why that definition translates to you getting fucked.

The second law states that the entropy of a system is ever-increasing, no matter what you do. Simply put, everything you do pushes the world to a more chaotic state than it was before you did an action.

Forget the good karmas. You’re not getting away with it. Just revisit your life. The first moment you remember is of your mother, your first home. The next moment, you’re crying and somehow smell like shit. Yup, that’s your introduction to chaos. You’re clean the very next moment. Seems like a happy ending, right? Umm, no. A few moments later, you again start crying, this time louder.

If you topped the exam, you were the main reason for the hatred for half the class. You think you were the popular kid? You got it worse.

If you think mediocrity would’ve left your classmates in a non-chaotic environment, you just forgot about your parents. Every act of mediocrity was somehow related to a part of the crease which formed on their forehead.

It is a vicious cycle. You cannot break it. It’s a matrix, but simpler.

People always complain that I am too negative. Let’s go with a positive example. You like chaat, right? If not consider any other food item you like. It is right in front of your eyes. That gorgeous dish whose name is enough to make your tongue wet. This strong muscle of yours fantasises about it in its dreams and longs to absorb everything it can offer. It is a match made in heaven and devoured in hell. You enjoy it to the last bit of and are currently thanking your stars for this moment. After it is done, you go back to your routine.

This is where the chaos starts to build up. Your digestive systems work hard to process the ingested food you just ate. Inevitably you will end up farting and with that, you will release methane, a greenhouse gas. I assume you’re aware of the things which will now follow. So greenhouse gases are making our Earth warmer. You probably fight off this warm climate by living in an AC room whose electricity bill you pay with your hard-earned money. Seems too much to process? Don’t worry, drink some cool water from the fridge, which uses CFCs to cool, which is an even more potent greenhouse gas.

You get the gist now, don’t you?

Ok fine. I’m not bothering you with more negativity now. Let’s talk about art. In the words of the late legendary actor Robin Williams, “We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.

That’s true. I always believe that poetry and prose will move you towards madness. Either you read the great works by the great poets and authors or by lesser mortals like the-guy-whose-stories-helped-Arjun-Kapoor-do-MBA-twice-with-same-expressions or the internet’s darling poetess Ms Kaur whose poems were in a way an inspiration for my crap poems. You’ll go mad either out of happiness or anger and frustration.

And lastly, if you think your life is perfect and you don’t buy any of the bullshit I just wrote above then why are you here? Why would you spend the last 5 minutes of your existence reading this nonsense article from a guy who writes crap poems intentionally and then complains why people are so stupid?

How messed up and chaotic is that?
